How To Participate In Elections: Must be an active member of Madison Park Improvement Association (MPIA) to participate in elections (voting or running for a position). New Membership will be accepted up until voting begins at the General Election on November 7th.

Voting Membership is open to any current resident, property owner, or business operator within the Madison Park Community.

Expectations For Board Members:

  • Attend MPIA Board Meetings regularly (first Thursday of each month from 6:00-6:30 PM)
  • Attend MPIA Community Meetings regularly (first Thursday of each month from 6:30-7:30 PM)

Open Two-Year Positions:

Vice-President of Community Engagement: Preside over General Meetings and Board meetings in the absence of the President and Vice-President of Operations; Serve as a member of the Board of the Midtown Benefits District; Serve as the principal liason with community and neighborhood associations in the areas overlapping and adjacent to the Madison Park Community; Coordinate with state and city agencies on general matters affecting residents of the Madison Park Community, other than zoning, safety,
and horticulture, including arranging for speakers at General Meetings and/or Board Meetings; and Serve as vice-chairperson of the Action Committee.

Finance: Serve as the corporate treasurer; Serve as the official custodian of all money, deeds, and contracts of the Association; Supervise the financial affairs of the Association, including serving as the primary signatory on all bank accounts; Timely prepare a draft annual budget for consideration by the Board; Oversee the filing of the Association’s yearly tax documents; and Serve as chairperson of the Finance Committee.

Communications: Serve as the corporate Secretary; Take the minutes of all meetings or ensure that another person records such minutes; Present the Board meeting minutes at each General meeting; Prepare the agenda for each upcoming meeting; Prepare meeting notices and ensure they are timely distributed; and Oversee any website or social media accounts maintained by the association, including appointing others to manage or maintain such website or accounts.

Parliamentarian: Preside over any meeting in the absence of the President, Vice-
President of Operations, and Vice-President of Community Engagement; Maintain order during meetings; Provide interpretations of these bylaws, when necessary, and rule on
questions of procedure; Coordinate the hiring of any outside counsel and serve as principal liason to such counsel; and Preside over the Annual Meeting and run the elections.
